Avalanche Skills  Training (AST)

We have been AST course providers for more than 15 years. In that time we have helped hundreds of backcountry enthusiasts learn how to be safe in avalanche terrain.The AST1 courses are introductory level and are open to skiers, boarders and those traveling on snowshoes. The AST2 course is intended for those who already have developed some avalanche safety skills and are looking to take their training to the next level.

Here is what we have scheduled so far for the winter of 2018:

AST Level 1

The course is delivered in a two day format. The first day is primarily classroom learning. The second day is a field day spent in mountainous terrain, where theory learned in the classroom is put to use.

AST Level 2

This is a hands on learning experience. The venue for the AST2 is Dezaiko Lodge. Spend 5 days exploring the great terrain and snow of the area while learning and developing your avalanche and backcountry travel skills. Morning and evening inside sessions and full days outside is the basic plan. Expect to get in lots of skiing as well!
