Bryce Cox, owner and guide

A Prince George, BC native, Bryce brings more than 20 years of ski guiding experience to Dezaiko Lodge. He began guiding backcountry ski touring groups with Ptarmigan Tours / Boulder Hut Adventures in the Purcells near Kimberly, BC and then shifted his focus to cat skiing, working as an integral part of Cariboo Cat Ski out of Valemount for 15+ years.

He then spent 3 years guiding for Last Frontier Heliskiing out of Terrace, BC – while continuing to guide private groups touring at various lodges in British Columbia.

Tisha Mcgregor, owner and chef

Born and raised in the Northern Rockies, Tisha brings her passion for food to Dezaiko Lodge.

She spent 20 years running two busy Bed and Breakfast businesses in the historic town of Barkerville, BC (2 hours from Prince George). Breakfast and baking are her passions and she's also cooked in restaurants and backcountry lodges as well as catered private events for years.

Anita Doherty and Ken Cox, logisticians

They enjoy extended road trips filled with adventure activities. They also enjoy international travel.

Anita and Ken's role with Dezaiko Lodge is providing ground support and logistics. They are also involved with lodge renovations and maintenance.

Matt Reynolds ACMG Guide

Matt Reynolds, guide

ACMG certified Mountain Guide Matt Reynolds has been a guide and AST provider for more than 20 years. Based in Jasper, Alberta, where he lives with his wife and daughter, he works as a guide full-time.

Matt has a wide range of experience working as a heli ski guide, ski touring guide, ice climbing guide, summer mountaineering guide and consultant. He has also worked as a snowcat ski guide where he managed the guiding team at Cariboo Snowcat Skiing for close to 15 years.

He has guided at Dezaiko Lodge for several seasons and leads our AST 2 courses as well.

Barb Sharp, guide

Barb’s introduction to skiing began on cross country skis at age 2, which later led her to compete on the biathlon World Cup circuit for a few years. She discovered powder skiing in her teenage years and got hooked!

She began her guiding career as a tail guide more than a decade ago and completed her full ACMG Ski Guide certification in 2017. During this time, she has enjoyed a mix of heli-skiing, cat-skiing, and touring guiding, teaching courses in avalanche and backcountry skills, and working for avalanche control programs.

This is Barb’s second season at Dezaiko Lodge. She has worked with Bryce in the past, and was even Bryce and Tisha’s neighbour in Prince George!

Barb is based in Jasper, Alberta, where she lives with her partner, Etienne. During the summer months she works for Parks Canada, mostly keeping bears and elk from getting into trouble with visitors.

Etienne Cardinal, guide

Originally from Québec, Etienne has spent most of his career working in the field for a variety of ecology projects. He put down roots in Jasper, Alberta, where he has lived and worked for Parks Canada for the past 10 years.

Etienne started tail guiding in 2014 and is a CAA Avalanche Practitioner, spending his winters ski touring, cat-skiing and heli-skiing. He has guided for several seasons Dezaiko Lodge.

For the rest of the year, Etienne can be found in some remote areas of Jasper National Park travelling with horses for Resource Conservation backcountry operations. You may also find him riding his mountain bike, perhaps paddleboarding, or rock climbing.

Logan Cox, lead custodian

Developing a fascination with snow removal at an early age, Logan has discovered self-actualization in his role at Dezaiko Lodge.

Named after Mount Logan, Canada’s highest peak (5,959 m), the 12th grader is an avid skier, enjoying both nordic skiing and alpine touring.

As a student, he is a huge fan of chemistry and all things math, and also loves 20th century history.

Logan is a competitive biathlete and nordic skier. (Biathlon is the combination of cross-country skiing and rifle marksmanship.) He was recently nominated to the Prospects Team of the Para Nordic Canada National Ski Team.

Kate Sulis, cook

Kate’s three favourite things in life are snow, skiing, and good food. She moved to Wells, BC in 1994 to take a cooking course: twenty-four years of living in that wintry mountain town taught her how to shovel, cover ground on skis, and feed a hungry gang at the end of the day. And she’s not bad at chopping firewood, either.

Kate was a Registered Massage Therapist for 20 years, then ran a successful wood-fired sourdough bakery for four years with her husband Tim. They left Wells in 2018 and settled in Kimberley, BC to check out the skiing and cycling in the south-eastern part of the province.

Kate keeps busy lately cooking meals for a non-profit food recovery program, doing various baking contracts, and working for a family who run a local market garden farm.
